Social Security Administration SealThe Social Security Administration (SSA) yesterday expressed its full support for President Trump’s memorandum, “Preventing Illegal Aliens from Receiving Social Security Act Benefits.” This memorandum reinforces SSA’s commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars and ensuring the integrity of the programs it administers.

“The Social Security Administration is dedicated to protecting the vital benefits that American workers have earned on behalf of themselves and their families,” said Acting Commissioner Leland Dudek. “We are committed to working diligently to implement the President’s memorandum and to ensure that benefits are paid only to those who should receive them.”

The President’s memorandum directs SSA to take several key actions aimed at stopping illegal aliens and other ineligible people from obtaining benefits under the Social Security Act. They include:

  • Expanding SSA’s fraud prosecutor programs;
  • Investigating earnings reports of people 100 years old or older with mismatched records;
  • Considering reinstatement of SSA’s civil monetary penalty program; and
  • Reinforcing program integrity measures so that only noncitizens who meet all eligibility requirements can receive benefits.

SSA administers three essential programs under the Social Security Act that support the financial well-being of over 70 million individuals. The Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) program, established in 1935, provides retirement and survivors benefits, paying over $1.3 trillion in fiscal year (FY) 2024 to approximately 59 million beneficiaries monthly. The Disability Insurance (DI) program, established in 1956, offers benefits to disabled workers and their families, issuing about $157 billion in FY 2024 to over 8 million beneficiaries each month. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, created in 1972, supports aged, blind, and disabled individuals with limited income, issuing around $56 billion in payments to 7.4 million recipients monthly, with some also receiving OASI or DI benefits. Additionally, the agency supports various national programs administered by other federal and state agencies including Medicare and Medicaid, among others.

    I sure wish the update was true and relevant. We all know illegal aliens do not collect social security EVER. So stop wasting our time and start resolving the social security shortfall and remove the $176,500 cap to UNLIMITED. Let those that earn more contribute more!

    The Project 2025 plan to make Social Security less useable, especially for Seniors, is proceeding as planned. Thanks for nothing.

    – Remove the upper limit on incomes paying into Social Security.
    – Include non-salary income above $10 million.

    Lower full benefits age back to 62.

    SSA funds will be back in the black.

    Now I am confused. The department of Social Security is sending me messages that they have been giving out benefits to illegal aliens???
    If true this is all Donald Trumps fault. It is time for Donald Trump to be deported along with his entire family to El Salvador to live in that prison he asked the President of El Salvador to build to house American Citizens. The sooner this happens the better off our country will be. If we wake up and tax the rich, SS and the federal deficit will be fine. TAX THE RICH!

    I agree with the others who have left comments. The Trump administration has invented a problem that does not exist. There is documented proof that social security fraud is mostly non-existent!

    TOTAL BS GASLIGHTING—!!!

    It’s always been illegal for an undocumented immigrant to collect Social Security; despite the fact that they contribute BILLIONS into our system.

    “Border Control” should be including fast, immediate processing of our Mexican migrant workers who plant, pick, process and transport our food system. …who are the best construction workers, far better to no one else. …who work in our travel and hospitality businesses. …Dreamers who’ve come here to earn their Education and skilled labor skills.

    We would had had that if Republicans signed the most Comprehensive Bi-partisan Bill that Joe Biden put to the floor—a bill Republicans mostly wrote.

    American’s are sick of this divisiveness. They’re showing up in the millions, protesting the data breaches and theft of our tax payer monies by Trump-Musk-DOGE “government contracts.” THERE’s your “Fraud, Waste and Abuse!”

    I miss the days when Republicans and Democrats could reach across the isle and work together—supporting the laws in place. …verses pissing on everything like an imputent narcissist dog-in-heat.

    HANDS OFF OUR SOCIAL SECURITY!!!

    In principle, there is nothing to disagree with in these actions. However, all this implies to the public that there are large numbers of people illegally getting benefits. Can you PLEASE report what the data is showing? A small number still needs to be addressed. A large number implies there are systemic issues.
