Social Security Administration SealThe Social Security Administration (SSA) yesterday expressed its full support for President Trump’s memorandum, “Preventing Illegal Aliens from Receiving Social Security Act Benefits.” This memorandum reinforces SSA’s commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars and ensuring the integrity of the programs it administers.

“The Social Security Administration is dedicated to protecting the vital benefits that American workers have earned on behalf of themselves and their families,” said Acting Commissioner Leland Dudek. “We are committed to working diligently to implement the President’s memorandum and to ensure that benefits are paid only to those who should receive them.”

The President’s memorandum directs SSA to take several key actions aimed at stopping illegal aliens and other ineligible people from obtaining benefits under the Social Security Act. They include:

  • Expanding SSA’s fraud prosecutor programs;
  • Investigating earnings reports of people 100 years old or older with mismatched records;
  • Considering reinstatement of SSA’s civil monetary penalty program; and
  • Reinforcing program integrity measures so that only noncitizens who meet all eligibility requirements can receive benefits.

SSA administers three essential programs under the Social Security Act that support the financial well-being of over 70 million individuals. The Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) program, established in 1935, provides retirement and survivors benefits, paying over $1.3 trillion in fiscal year (FY) 2024 to approximately 59 million beneficiaries monthly. The Disability Insurance (DI) program, established in 1956, offers benefits to disabled workers and their families, issuing about $157 billion in FY 2024 to over 8 million beneficiaries each month. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, created in 1972, supports aged, blind, and disabled individuals with limited income, issuing around $56 billion in payments to 7.4 million recipients monthly, with some also receiving OASI or DI benefits. Additionally, the agency supports various national programs administered by other federal and state agencies including Medicare and Medicaid, among others.

    Thank you President Trump and thank you God. I never thought I would need benefits. My social security number had been compromised since 1991, to a Hispanic name in LA, I reported it since I barely got my ss number in 1986. So peeps are wrong that keep saying illegals can’t get and use our numbers . They do! Report please if needed.

    Non citizens have never been eligible to collect social security. You are gaslighting the American public. There is SO little fraud in Social security thanks to the Inspector General who was there prior to being fired for no reason. Musk is mining our data. Just stop your propaganda and rehire the REAL people who keep our federal agencies safe. Sick of this.

    This is propaganda. Instead tell us how much you paid in benefits to immigrants. You can’t can you?

    Instead you spend federal taxes on establishing unnecessary programs to make administration look good. Save that money for benefits.

    What is meant by, “Additionally, the agency supports various national programs administered by other federal and state agencies including Medicare and Medicaid, among others.”

    Are you assuring us that those programs do not benefit non-citizens?

    I agree that this is a ridiculous endeavor. How many of those workers are paying into the system but getting nothing in return? If they are paying into, that money should be returned to them. Who is going to do the work that they have been doing? I don’t see a lot of citizens lining up for those jobs.

    The SS trust fund crosses the funding rubicon in about 6 years, and thereafter (barring changes to the tax laws, to retirement ages, to benefit levels/adjustments, or [ideally] some combination of all three) will only have adequate funds to pay out about 70% of promised benefits.

    And the administration is trumpeting its commitment to “preventing fraud”, in an agency that administers TRILLIONS of dollars in benefits with administrative costs of less that 0.5% of its budget.

    Don’t think we don’t notice this sleight-of-hand, even if we can’t think of a good reason why the administration would want to destroy its own credibility like this.

    Sorry to say, but they do get benefits. Also, SSI aged if they have been in the country 5 years and the kids were supporting them and now, they say they are not. They can apply for SSIAI and Medicare, Medicaid.
