Social Security Addressing Aged Records

Social Security Administration LogoThe Social Security Administration (SSA) today shared its significant progress in identifying and correcting beneficiary records of people 100 years old or older. The data reported in the media represent people who do not have a date of death associated with their record. While these people may not be receiving benefits, it is important for the agency to maintain accurate and complete records.

“I thank President Trump for highlighting these inconsistencies during his speech last night to a joint session of Congress,” said Lee Dudek, Acting Commissioner of Social Security. “We are steadfast in our commitment to root out fraud, waste, and abuse in our programs, and actively correcting the inconsistencies with missing dates of death.”

The agency follows long established program integrity initiatives that identify people who have a higher likelihood of being deceased due to their age or incomplete death reports. For example, SSA receives data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of individuals who have not used Medicare Part A or Part B for three or more years. SSA uses the data as an indicator to select and prioritize cases of individuals age 90 or older, who are currently in pay status and living in the United States, to determine continued eligibility for Social Security benefits. The agency attempts to conduct an interview with these individuals to verify they are still alive. If the agency identifies someone is deceased, it immediately stops payment and reports any suspicions of fraud to SSA’s Office of the Inspector General.

Call them out Erin. I am not going to take the word of the administration that seeks to take people’s lively hood away and gives the “savings” to the billionaires and oligarchs.

If one has access to the data, they can write a program to siphon from these records. Because they are dead and would not be complaining that money is missing…no complaints no investigation. This also occurs with banks as well as a retired detective, I’ve investigated such a case. And the same can be said about credit cards and etc etc etc. thank you SSI for stepping up and deleting these records.

Yeah, you’re probably 100% correct. I just can’t believe that somebody that committed 34 felony counts business fund fraud became our president has our nuclear codes and access to the treasury. Seems like election fraud on the part of the ketamine tweaked billionaire who is the biggest welfare baby of them all Elon Suss(suspect). God forbid anybody from the Democratic Party sit say Trump and Elon commit election fraud I mean Trump pretty much said it himself but you know no one will do shit???I mean when Elon‘s AI crok says there’s a 75% chance that Trump is a Russian asset there’s a big problem but since there’s this fucking cult called MAGA I guess all of us regular people are probably gonna have to eat shit and die literally!

You’re rude and Extremely disrespectful. Our president is the best president ever. You should perhaps move to another country- if you feel that way. I’m sure nobody would care and you could experience a different country’s government. You’re absolutely crazy- Have you considered seeing a psychiatrist? It could possibly help you.

Respect has to be earned. You might idolize him, but that is your right. The rest of us have our rights as well.

As far as moving to another country? This is our country, and we have every right to speak up.

They want to use our tax dollars to pay for the tax cuts for the wealthy, $4.5 trillion dollars. And did you hear about their crypto currency scam? Our tax dollars to bailout risky crypto currency investments. How to pay for it? Cuts to Medicaid. And don’t blink! There are reports that they’ll have to make cuts into ss and medicare. We all need to watch everything closely.

And mental health is no joking matter. Just stop.

DOGE has to claim waste and fraud to make cuts. Look up what they want to use our tax dollars for.

And the supposed fraud in payments to millions of dead people? Google it. Especially what Dudek himself said mid Feb. before the president made his claims. If you only watch Fox News, you might not get what is happening here.

Ha ha ha! You are scaring gullible fools into believing thousands of dead people were collecting SS benefits all as a plan to steal our benefits away from us! NO dead people are collecting benefits, or VERY VERY few are.

They are trying to take away our SS people! Don’t fall for it. They sew the seeds of lies until enough people believe it, then THEY actual do the lie they said.

I wonder how long it will take before this comment is removed.

      Me too!
I’m very suspicious about how badly they can mess up over 90 recipients by ‘mistakenly’ removing them left to figure out how to be reinstated, if they are cognizant enough to try. My mom is 94 and incompetent so this worries me a lot.
And then there’s the SAVE act that could cause millions of married women to be disqualified from voting because they are using their husband’s last name, and no way to prove they are who they are.

I hope it does not get removed. We are in turbulent times where actual misappropriation of funds are coming to light and the difference between reality and lies require discernment only possible with actual fact checking more often then not only prompted by those who have extremely contradictory ideas. They have been wanting to demolish social security for years. What they should have done was go back and made it what it was originally intended for and stop milking the funds for other things. My humble opinion.

It is counter productive for the president to be highlighting clerical errors during a speech in front of congress. It is inefficient and misleading. This should be immediately reviewed by DOGE, and perpetrator fired for poor performance.

There have been elections where dead people have been found voting, why is this so far-fetched? The fact that the head of the IRS is coming out and thanking Trump for pointing the south says a lot He wouldn’t be doing that on his own will

Glad to see the focus on data integrity. The age issue may be a false herring but the continued statements that there is no issue without substantiation is also hard to accept. Why is there so much messaging vs. just stating the facts? That is why nobody has confidence in anything that is stated by government. Hopefully we can all agree that a smaller, less impactful government will make the issue less critical to individuals.

There has been accusations that the people with these ages over 100 years are actually being PAID from the fund. I would like to know if discovering these errors actually resulted in savings or was only a matter of simply finding a clerical error.

I’m curious about how “…The agency attempts to conduct an interview with these individuals to verify they are still alive…”? My mother is 95 years old and I wonder how you plan to contact her.

Am not condoning the lies of some. I commend you for trying to show the American people that these are lies on people over a certain age. Yes ,it would be nice to see actual figures of what you really found. Of course Trump doesn’t want to made out to be a liar ,so he will stifle these reports.
