Social Security Administration SealRecent reports in the media that Social Security plans to eliminate telephone services are inaccurate. SSA is increasing its protection for America’s seniors and other beneficiaries by eliminating the risk of fraud associated with changing bank account information by telephone.

SSA continuously investigates and analyzes potential threats to strengthen and secure our programs and protect people who receive benefits. Approximately 40 percent of Social Security direct deposit fraud is associated with someone calling SSA to change direct deposit bank information. SSA’s current protocol of simply asking identifying questions by telephone is no longer enough to prevent fraud.

If someone needs to change their bank account information on SSA’s record, they will need to either:

  • Use two-factor authentication with SSA’s “my Social Security” service; or
  • Visit a local Social Security office to prove their identity.

These methods align with most major banks.

All other SSA telephone services remain unchanged.

Prop-a-gan-da. Let ME clarify the “correct the record” issue regarding Musks’ assault on SSA…

The phone line cuts WERE going to happen simply bc some 40% of individuals applying for benefits-either Social Security Retirement Benefits or SSDI-do so by phone. Non-elected-co-president Musk, decided to disconnect, nay, disrupt the DECADES old program, to simply decrease accessibility and therefore decrease benefit payouts.

This disruption along with the absolutely ludicrous move of getting rid of 7-THOUSAND-employees of the SSA, is part of the strategy for this administration to PRIVATIZE Social Security!

All musk is doing with ZERO pushback from any member of the GOP-held Congress, is seeing an opportunity to yet make more $$ by PRIVATIZING the program. And here YOU are doing DAMAGE CONTROL bc the announcement of this nefarious move by The Washington Post set off a firestorm of outrage!

This administration, basically musk, makes announcements of their plans to see what sticks or what Americans may not notice. The PUSHBACK by Senator Logan(D) along with WE THE PEOPLE got him in a the administration ‘realizing whoops’ that’s not gonna fly’ so now here YOU are doing damage control by LYING.

The phone access WAS going to be disconnected! It is a LIE that this is a media misinformation issue. What has stopped the plan was a FREE PRESS-which the trump administration seeks to destroy as well-and bring the LIGHT OF TRUTH to We the People.

So save the propaganda and do not misunderstand that we are NOT stupid. We KNOW what is happening here. Do NOT underestimate the Power of The AMERICAN PEOPLE.

We KNOW what you are doing and we WILL NOT BE FOOLED! The “fraud, waste and abuse” is overestimated and the idea the SSA should be overhauled is a ruse.

So, cut the crap, and get out of our EARNED BENEFITS. The smokescreen collapsed and this statement is damage control. PERIOD.

The Trump loyalists who invaded and took over the Social Security administration think any payment of Social Security to the retirees is automatically fraud. No surprise there. Their delusional arrogant ignorance is bought and paid for by the Billionaire Parasite Elite. They are paid to gut Social Security and that is exactly what they will do. Dear Merciful Lord in Heaven, I wish these people would switch their allegiance from a delusional, incompetent fraud and his billionaire buddies to our nation’s Constitution. Please Lord give them their Damascus moment that opens their eyes. Amen.

What are rep payees supposed to do? We can’t change direct deposit through our rep payee online account. I cannot bring my two disabled children into the office for their direct deposit update. We can’t sit there for hours in public they are high risk.

I would not call having to wait 120 minutes on the phone for the next available person to answer, actually offering customer service by phone. This means SS does not have enough employees to run the SS office.

I’ve been looking over all the comments and I honestly think they’re part of some campaign to make you guys think that Americans are not supporting what DOGE is doing. The comments, some of them, describe people in circumstances that are too improbable….

    You guys are doing great.

Comments that criticize this plan keep getting deleted or falling off the site. Aren’t there record retention requirements for this sort of page?
